I hate him, he became manager without doing anything. I once even found 10 bugs in his code. I guess he became manager just because he is a sweet talker and he had connections with senior management. Or maybe he became manager because he used to attend all the office parties.

Today, he has called me to discuss the system design of work I am doing. I am sure he will not be able to understand even a single bit. And he will just waste my time.

As soon as I entered his room he stood up, shook my hand, and requested me to sit. He asked me about my wife and kids. He remembered their names and asked me how are they doing, her job, their studies. Well, I knew it now, he is just trying to please me and talking sweetly, this is what he can only do, talk everything but work.

He then requested me to take him through the solution approach I have in mind. During the meeting, he kept asking me so many basic level questions. Like: Who will be the users of the solution? Why are we doing this? Instead of using the latest technology and making code best performant can we make it simple? None of his questions were around technology, as I expected. Just because he doesn’t understand the technology, he wanted me to simplify the solution. What a dumb person he is.

In between, he received a phone call. I could almost hear her wife and kid from other side of phone. They were requesting him to come home on time today, from last 1 month he is spending almost all his time in office from 7 AM to 8 PM at night. I was surprised, that he didn’t have much work actually, neither hard deadlines to follow, then what is he doing all this time in office. Tinder? Lol

This was followed by another call where his superior was showing concern about the quality and speed at which projects his teams were delivering. That how teams he is handling are not performing well. To which he replied firmly that his teams are not at fault, and they are doing best of work, it is the requirements that are not being passed on clearly and kept changing.

I asked him, hope you are not having an affair that you are not going home so late. He laughed and showed me his calendar: he is doing AWS and Devops trainings in morning, followed by 1-o-1s with teams, followed by requirement gathering meetings with clients, followed by design reviews for different teams.

I knew it exactly in my mind that time, that he is not doing any real work, it is me and people like me who are writing all code, writing all test cases, and getting functionalities delivered. He is just there to talk and talk and talk.

While I was leaving his room, he tells me that I am the best in technology he is having and he is so proud to have me on his team.

I know he is making fun of me, that even though I am so good in technology, still he became manager and I still have to work under him.

I hate him more now.
