Here is a checklist of items which you can use in case you have to start a new assignment and you are very stressed about how will you work on it as you don’t know anything about it.

  • Write down the problem statement
  • Write down the expected outcome
  • Write down the names of people who can help in case you are stuck
  • Get a brief introduction to topics or systems involved with your task
  • Collect as much reference documents as you can
  • Write a high level plan to reach to expected outcome
  • Create a high level diagram
  • Write a low level plan to reach to expected outcome
  • Create lot of low level diagrams
  • Write the tasks you have to complete
  • Write the estimates for each task
  • Get the document reviewed by your team
  • Get the document reviewed by your manager
  • Get the document reviewed by external teams whom you need help
  • Start working
